Summary
This was a Design group project during the third year of my degree which aimed to speculate on the future of physical augmentation in the near future. My role was to research current and emerging trends in body modification, med-tech sensing, and social trends to suggest how wearables could be used in the future.
The result of this was a hypothetical workplace monitoring tool for mental and physical well being, Embla. Embla is system that monitors a workplace's stress to adjust the office environment and workflow. This work went on to win a departmental award, was featured in the Evening Standard and was displayed as part of the department's open house.
I contributed by leading the technical and qualitative research, developing electronics for a stress-sensing prototype, and assisted in creating a full-scale office environment to demonstrate the technology. A full report is available below.
